The Walpole-Algonac Ferry Line has been in operation for over 100 years.  Operating out of Walpole Island (Ontario, Canada) the ferry crosses the St.Clair River to Algonac (Michigan, USA) and is the closest route between Detroit and Chatham/Wallaceburg/London/Toronto areas.

The ferry is minutes away from Historic Downtown Chatham, Dresden Slots, Wallaceburg & District Museum, Family Picnic Shelter at Dover Community Park, St. Clair National Wildlife Area, and a short drive to Chatham & Wallaceburg Restaurants and retailers for you shopping pleasure.

Being the central US/Canadian border link between Sarnia and Chatham, the ferry service offers convenient access to many other local interests, such as listed below.

Summer, 2010, ferry now running daily according to schedule. Ferry open on weekends @ 6:45 a.m. [Can. side] , 7:00 a.m. [U.S. side]  Arrive early to avoid the lineups. Weekdays open @ 6:20 [Can.side] and 7:00 am [U.S. side]. Last trip @ night is always 9:45 pm [Can side] and 10:00 pm [U.S. side]. Boat arriving every 15-20 minutes all day long every day.

The ferry lands at 202 Fruit St. 48001 in Algonac Mich. U.S. or  River Road on Walpole Island, Ontario, Canada, N8A 4K9. Ferry landing every 15-20 min. Takes 7 minutes to cross river. Hunting licences may be purchased on Walpole Island.

Price per car---$6.00 one way.

You must have a passport or enhanced Drivers License to present to Customs to enter either country.
